December Updates

December Updates

Hello, and happy snow day for most of Northeast Ohio. I am using this time to catch up on some things, and wanted to send an update on the rest of the year for my studio.

First of all, thank you for stopping by Belltower Brewing Co. this weekend to pick up some gifts from my table. I was so happy to get to do this small market, and meet many new faces in Kent. I know this was the biggest week for holiday craft shows, so I was really excited to sell so many coaster sets, notebooks and small pieces. A special shout out to my mom and dad who came early to help me organize my setup! If you missed out on coasters, I dropped off the remaining sets at Gallery 202 in Cleveland. Check them out if you are in the area or at Cleveland Bazaar holiday!

I used some of today to try and make some more coaster sets with this red/white 'butcher twine' I bought at Marc's a few years ago for 2/99¢. I have about 3 sets of 4 with this yarn, and then I'll hopefully have 3 sets with this primary colorway of wool in the center. Come say 'hi' this week during Frist Friday, and you can check out the new coaster sets, riso-printed journals (only $5!), and framed artworks for sale. I will be open from 5-9pm on December 5th. Come see me, and all the other artists from Second April Studios/ Kolp's Attic in downtown Canton!

If you are looking for other fun things to do on this "snow day" or during the winter, the Stark County Artists' exhibition is open until January at the Massillon Museum. I have two artworks included, where I used dyed and sliced paper in a waffle weave structure to make a woven textile piece. There are many other community artists in the show as well to see. in the "Studio M" gallery is an installation by my artist friend Eric Anthony Burdis, who worked with young students and museum visitors to create all the bugs in the gallery.

What is next for the studio? I am not completely sure. Making coasters has let me create a lot of different samples that might lead me in a direction of a color or a style. I am also inspired by colors that I see in my studio when I am re-arranging items and cleaning up. I have also have been more motivated to draw while I am relaxing and staying warm, leading me to these abstract coffee bean images. I will just have to keep drawing and sampling until something pulls me in a new direction for the coming year. Thanks for your support, and don't hesitate to reach out if you need that last minute gift.
